Strengthening Immunity
Yesterday we discussed the drivers to the media furore regarding COVID-19 being the need to justify pharmaceutical companies increased access to the public purse. This will be used to fund research, antiviral and antibiotic development. Our Western solutions model is a militant free-market capitalism which is almost Stalinist in its approach. It will reengineer society and our economy in order to fit the doctrine of a militant free-market capitalism often at devastating human cost and at incredible cost to the public purse and the shortcomings of this approach will really reveal itself in the way that we are dealing with the increasing risk of pandemics. Whilst this article will share strategies for increasing immunity we must remember our collective responsibility to address the issues that are leading to our problems in the first place. We are trying to solve these problems with the very same processes which caused the problems in the first place. Militant free market approaches work by applying increasingly militant free market strategies.
We may view the human body as a fortress with walls and gates which allow entry and facilitate defence of the fortress. You keep enemies out and allow friends in. The walls are a special cell type which is used to create boundaries or to stay with the analogy walls. This tissue is called epithelial tissue, which makes up our skin, lung tissue and digestive system linings. This is our first line of defence.The gates being our mouths, nostrils and other openings. Our lungs and digestive tract must let in what we need and keep out undesirable foreign materials and microbes. Epithelial tissue therefore has gaps which are controlled to allow things in and keep things out. Prolonged stress however releases stress hormones, which in the long term remodels epithelial tissue. This increases the gaps and so expands the metaphorical gates, which compromises defence and increases strain upon our immune systems. The enemies are now within the gates and so the immunity soldiers are forced into action. It is precisely for this reason that within our already stressful lives a public Caronavirus, panic is a particularly stupid way of dealing with this situation. Increasing fear and panic, creates compelling television and attention equals money, the difference between our society’s needs and that of media corporations, makes worse the very thing that the stories are supposed to be working to protect against!
The most important thing that we can do to strengthen our immunity is to de-stress. Followed by repairing the integrity of our epithelial tissue. We would also do well to lighten our digestive loads by eating lighter nutrient dense foods of which vegetables really tops the list. Soups and stews lighten the load upon the vast exposed digestive tissue which stretches through our bodies and gives our epithelial barrier tissue a chance to recover its healthy structure. Plantago lanceolata or Plantain herb and Agrimonia eupatoria or Agrimony are is a useful herbs to aid in this.
Here is a useful mixture whose action I will explain over the course of these articles and how it works and what you may add to adjust it to your specific needs.
Ingredients:
1 whole unwaxed lemon.
A thumb length of ginger.
1 handful of mint leaves.
1 apple or a green mango.
2 tsps of fennel.
⅓ tsp of red chilli powder (omit if anyone who will be taking the mixture is autistic)
1 tsp of sea or rock salt.
½ an onion.
4-6 cloves of garlic.
Honey and olive oil or apple cider vinegar to achieve the consistency and taste that you like.
Instructions blend ingredients together to achieve a smooth consistency and store in the refrigerator.
Dosage 1 tsp. twice daily.
Reduce stress.
